"KNOW YOUR RIGHTS - USE YOUR RIGHTS", 1 - 8 October 2015
YOUTH EXCHANGE IN LOW TATRAS, SLOVAKIA

Youth exchange "Know Your Rights - Use Your Rights" will be held in Low Tatras, on 1 - 8 October 2015. Its aim is to increase the general knowledge among young consumers of EU-wide consumer rights, that stem mostly from national transposition of EU directives. Particular focus will be on the Consumer Rights Directive, the Unfair Commercial Practices Directive, the Unfair Contract Terms Directive and the Consumer Sales and Guarantees Directive.

Consumer awareness is the understanding and knowledge that a buyer should have of his rights as a customer. The awareness is very important for the buyer since it permits him to get the most from what he buys

Knowing your consumer rights-and the responsibilities that come with those rights-is an important part of protecting yourself in the European Union marketplace. Making yourself heard when your consumer rights have been ignored or violated is not only your right; it is an important part of helping other consumers avoid a similar fate. It is also an important part of forcing businesses to act honestly and ethically and to become more consumer-focused.

The project about consumer awareness in the EU will run in the eight countries where awareness of consumer rights is low, according to the latest Consumer Scoreboard: Bulgaria, Cyprus, Greece, Italy, Poland and Slovakia. There will in addition be a specific campaign for the European Union`s newest member state, Croatia.

At the end of the project participants should be aware of their rights under EU law so they can use them every day, when shopping online or on the high street. That's why a non-profit organisation A.D.E.L has organised a TC "Know Your Rights - Use Your Rights" informing young European citizens of their rights under EU consumer law and pointing them to the right places where they can get advice and help in case of questions or problems.

Besides this, there will be a diverse program full of discussions and workshops about various topics related to consumer protection in the EU such as unfair commercial practices, the unfair contract terms and the consumer sales and guarantees, but also non-formal activities which will provide the participants with the possibility to learn more about our national and regional culture, exchange different ideas and of course give them the chance to make friends from all over Europe.

4 participants per country (18 - 30 old, 2 males and 2 females) + 1 youth leader (no age limit).

Limit for travel costs to be paid by the organisers is 170 euros. There is no participation fee and accommodation and food is free.

HOW TO GET THERE?

If you need to take a plane, there are three options:
1) fly to Bratislava, but the airport is pretty small and there are flights just from certain destinations (e.g. Milano, Madrid, London), so if the prices are to high...
2) ...you can fly to Vienna, Austria and then to take a bus to Bratislava. The bus takes one hour, cost 7
euros and there are buses each 20 buses directly from Vienna airport.
From Bratislava, you have to take a train to Poprad which takes approximately 3 hours. Although its pretty long trip, you will definitely enjoy it where you will take a train of company „regiojet“. Its nice, fast, you will get coffee, tea and water for free, snacks are very cheap (e.g. cake – 0,40 eurocents, beer – 0,80 eurocents) and you will have first possibility to explore Slovakia and socialize together 
But if you want to take this train, you have to book it online on the website www.regiojet.sk in

Training Course "AGIT POP" Lorca,Murcia – Spain 08-16 SEPT 2014

Positions available for 2 people from Cyprus

Nowadays youngsters hear about gender equality and think about that as a desirable value. However their affective education is led by comics, mainstream movies and games, which show the same traditional roles and relationships that foster inequality and discrimination. It’s important for a youth worker to know how to deal with these materials and how to take advantages on them to help youngsters creating new models of behaviour, friendship, love, and motivate them to develop a social fabric that prevent students from dropping out from school.

Agit-pop is a training course for youth workers, youngsters and actors working with young people. The main goal of this project is to create tools to fight against prejudice and gender stereotypes, to raise awareness about the traps of romantic love, and to encourage tolerance towards different affectivity models through popular culture materials. Through this course we want to raise awareness about the gender roles return to normality and to encourage active, enterprising, and responsible feminine roles; the two main causes of dropping out of school and work are caring after the sick and romantic love, two elements that are strongly related to genre roles and carry on for generations. Economic dependency and the romantic ideal of love are two of the causes of gender-based violence, a scourge that is devastating the whole world.

The themes treated in the course will be: gender and sex, stereotypes and prejudices, femininity and masculinity on pop culture, romantic love in movies and tv shows, non-heterosexual sexual and emotional orientations, our reality and the reality of our youngsters, new roles creation, and pop culture materials.

Deadline to apply 20 July 2014
